We are HERE!!! Guangzhou that is!!!

Just wanted to post and let everyone know that we are safe and sound in the
Victory Hotel in Guangzhou!!! Our flights were good. The first one from
Detroit to Tokyo seemed to go by really quickly. I think we all slept fairly
well on that flight. Then we went directly onto the connecting flight in
Tokyo to go to Guangzhou and sat!! We were boarded by 6:20 but the flight
wasn't to leave till 7PM and we were delayed a bit and didn't leave till
7:30. SF Slept but CA and I didn't really rest very much. In some ways that
flight seemed to take longer than the long one!! I think it was because we
just wanted to be there. We arrived at 11:30 and one advantage of flying
late is that we didn't have to wait at all to clear customs. We just walked
right through. Next to the baggage claim. SF's stuff came first and then
CA's and mine were about the last ones but thankfully it was all there. Our
IAAP guide was waiting for us and we headed to the hotel. That was a 45
minute drive. NO TRAFFIC...we have never see that before in China.
They got us checked in and we went up to the room. We were to have a
Business suite and when we got there we had a shoebox! Barely big enough to
turn around. So we went back down and got that changed. I would have posted
last night...but couldn't get the mouse to work. Turned out that all we
needed to do was mess with the battery...but now that is fixed and I am a
happy camper. Scott is laughing at us...but I know at least my mom will be
happy to see this!
We were all to bed by about 2AM. Not sure how many hours we had been up, but
it seemed like many!
We all got up by 7AM or so. Down for breakfast and then out to stretch our
legs. Thankfully it is nice weather and we have a day to settle in.
Our guide is to check in with us this afternoon about 3PM. From what we know
now we should get JM tomorrow about 4PM.
Still not sure about photos. We are waiting to meet another family from
IAAP. I think they arrive from Beijing this afternoon.
