HOME SWEET HOME

EM and I made it home last night at about 7:30 PM. It was great to sleep in my own bed! And sleep I did. EM took pain medicine at 9pm and then slept till I woke him up at 6 AM, as I thought that was long enough to wait between doses. He walks like an old man and has some discomfort, but he is doing very well. SF was really glad to see EM. They had not been able to see each other since 5:45 AM on the day of surgery(Wednesday). I think it did SF good to see EM. It is hard to worry about your son and not be able to wrap your arms around him!
The girls are staying with friends until tomorrow at church. Then we will all be back in our own home!
All for now!

SF is HOME

A quick note to say the SF came at 12:30 this afternoon. He was up and walking and the pain in his back has decreased a great deal already! For that we are very thankful. EM has had a very low key day. I am going to get him up in a wheelchair in a few minutes and see how that goes. He is being a real trooper...but it is a rough time.
JUST FYI

Update on the guys!

Post-op Day 1
It has been a rather eventful 24 hours but thankfully both seem to be doing well. SF had a bit of a headache last evening, but this morning when I stopped to see him he got up in the chair and was working on a liquid breakfast. If all goes well SF will hopefully go home later today.
EM had a much too eventful evening. Thankfully he too is feeling better this am. He is very quiet and for those who know EM you know this is not the way he normally is. We are anticipating a visit from a dog and he thinks that sounds fun. He is now able to focus better and I think the anesthesia and the affects of it are thankfully going away.
EM has been able to keep a bit of sprite down this am and that is the first for anything in his very empty stomach. The MD's have been by and seem pleased and think EM is doing very well.
I am heading to the shower so I can start feeling a bit more human myself.
JM is doing well at home  with his PCA and the girls are being spoiled completely by EM's god-parents. They start spring break in the morning so they are excited about that!
All from here for now.

UPDATE ON THE "BOYS"

I wanted to take a minute and let everyone know how things are going so far. Both SF and EM came through surgery well. The MD's are happy! The boys...well maybe not so happy yet!
SF looks quite pale but is being moved to a private room and hopefully will rest well there overnight. The hope is he will go home tomorrow. According to SF's parents the MD said the surgery could not have gone better.
EM did well. His bone graft is done and his MD said it was an "extensive" repair, but he was pleased. EM is sleeping soundly and so far doing OK. Some nausea and quite a bit of pain.
Thankfully the hospital has laptops that we are allowed to borrow, thus I am able to post this note.
Thank you all for your prayers and concern. Keep them coming.

PLEASE PRAY FOR US

Just to let those of you that don't know. Both SF and EM are scheduled for surgery in the morning.
SF has 2 herniated discs in his back that he has been dealing with since OCT. Hopefully this will be the answer that gives him some relief.
EM has his bone graft scheduled in the am as well.
Both of them will be in surgery at 0730 on the 16th if all goes as planned.
We would appreciate prayers for all concerned.
thanks so much!!
PS I will try and keep you posted as to how it goes

OUR GLACIER

I thought I would post a photo of the glacier that has been created outside our driveway.
We are predicted to get temps near 50degrees this week so it should melt, but I wanted to capture what it still looks like around here in mid-March! Boy are we ready for warmer temps! It was much higher than this at one point... but you get the idea!

FUN At STARS ON ICE

I was able to take the oldest 3 and see the 25th Anniversary STARS ON ICE show last evening.
They had an amazing line up and we all really enjoyed it! The Linus is at the Excel Arena. St. Paul did a bunch of statues of Peanuts characters a few years back. This one has a hockey stick and is there where the WILD play!

A visit with Isabella

JM's PCA had her first baby on Feb. 16th. Isabella was nearly 2 months early...but is doing well. She got to go home in just over 2 weeks and is up to 4# 1 oz. She made her first visit to our home last night. The kids are smitten! She is a living doll!

MR DID IT!!

MR has wanted to get her ears pierced! Well the deal was she needed to grow out her nails...then she could get them pierced. Well she finally did it. After 2 months of bandaids and a lot of work on her part, she has to actually trim her nails now and gets to polish them! They look great. I must admit after several years of bitten nails I was not sure they would grow! But they did! She is doing well in taking care of her ears and counting the days till she can change them!
